Conceptual scene for the play "Growing through Concrete" (2024)

For the play Growing Through Concrete, a Roots & Routes project in 2024, we worked on a scene that explored the increasing digitalization of humanity. The focus was on how digital processes affect the perception and representation of human beings.
For the visual design, we used animations featuring so-called “particle people.” The movements of the animated figures were captured using motion capture technology, which allowed real-life body movements to be transferred into the digital representation. The animations were projected onto screens in the background and on the sides of the stage, shaping the visual atmosphere of the scene.
I was responsible for implementing the animations.
As the scene unfolded, two performers stepped behind the curtains, thereby becoming part of this world of particles themselves; they visually merged with the animations and transformed their physical presence on stage.
Ultimately, the scene was cut from the play because it no longer fit seamlessly with the rest of the plot. Nevertheless, the work has been preserved: a video of the scene still exists and offers a glimpse into the concept and its execution.
